The task of baking 30 cakes for mostly far-away friends and the other rituals of Christmas time are painted with such loving and nostalgic strokes, this becomes a truly beautiful Christmas experience. The poverty of the 1930s fails to stop or even slow down a loving relationship at a loving time of the year. An Emmy Award well deserved! Recommended. 51 minutes

 A Christmas Memory January 8, 2009
I have loved this movie since I was a child. Saw it originally on TV in black and white.
Now I have purchased both the original TV black and white presentation, and the later version starring Patty Duke. They are a treasure.
No one could ever top Geraldine Page in the original, however, the color version is touching also.
It takes one back to a simpler time in life.

Although the film quality is not great,watching it in B&W seemed appropriate as this was how I saw it in the 60's as a child. It is a heartwarming story that should be part of your holiday classic collection.

This is a rare copy of a wonderful television performance by Geraldine Page of Truman Capote's A Christmas Memory. It may not be the best copy, but it somehow adds to the memory-like qualities of the story. We had the tape version, and are glad to see the DVD out. Every Christmas we watch this. It reminds us of an era where the greatest gifts were not purchased. It is so appropriate today.

This black-and-white production of "A Christmas Memory" featuring Geraldine Paige is one of the most moving and memorable pieces of literature every produced. The lack of color is not a problem and is not even a consideration. True, the quality of this video is not the best but the story is moving and the acting masterful. Get this video and make viewing it part of your Christmas tradition. Don't waste your money on the color version with Patty Duke -- it's a bad joke.

I remember watching this when it was aired on TV and loved it. I decided after reading the reviews that I would buy the DVD and what a big disappointment! The DVD wouldn't play in fact a message came on that their was a disk error and that the disk hadn't been formatted to playback. I contacted Amazon.com and I requested a refund.
