Amazon.com There's more shtick than you can shake a stick at in this goofy sequel to the 1995 comedy A Kid in King Arthur's Court. Thomas Ian Nicholas returns as Calvin, a deceptively commonplace '90s teen whose pizza-delivery job gets him mixed up in an ancient quest to help Ali Baba save Aladdin--and all of Arabia--from the evil schemes of Aladdin's brother, Luxor. Just as Calvin relied on rollerblades and CD players to help him in the previous movie, his stash of contemporary gizmos gets him out of more than one jam when Luxor's henchmen come looking for him. There's a fair amount of F/X magic here--including the traditional opening of Ali Baba's hideaway at the command "open sesame"--but silliness is the real engine of this movie. (Ali Baba and his Forty Thieves? Try Ali and his Three Lamebrained Brothers.) Comic actor Taylor Negron is very funny as Aladdin's smart-aleck genie, stuck inside a lamp for a thousand years but hip enough to describe Luxor as "gone postal." --Tom Keogh

Three Wishes Could Have Saved This Movie Because It's Not All Bad April 7, 2008 Calvin Fuller (Thomas Ian Nicholas) thinks his life is back to normal. His biggest problem is getting noticed by the girl of his dreams. He has gotten a job as a delivery boy for the local pizza place, where he works every day after school.
But that's just how he finds himself in another adventure. Hundreds of years before, Aladdin (Aharon Ipale) faced a threat to his throne from his brother Luxor (James Faulkner). Before Luxor curses Aladdin, Aladdin sends the Genie on a quest. And when the Genie (Taylor Negron) shows up in the pizzeria looking for "The Deliverer," he thinks Calvin is the guy.
Before he knows it, Calvin finds himself back in ancient Arabia where he must team up with Ali Baba (Nicholas Irons) and the three thieves as well as Aladdin's beautiful daughter Sheherazad (Rhona Mitra) to retrieve the Genie from the cave of wonders without letting Luxor get his hands on the lamp. Can they do it?
This is one of those mildly amusing movies that is rather harmless but not overly entertaining. The story started rather slowly and predictably, but once it got into the second half, I was hooked. The acting is passable, but certainly not praise worthy. And the special effects are fairly obvious most of the time but they work.
I think my biggest complaint is that Calvin seemed to have learned nothing from the first movie. I was hoping to see a little character growth. But he started the movie too nervous to do what he really wanted to do again.
Don't rush out and get this movie. But if you are bored, it will certainly help you pass an hour and a half rather painlessly.
Awesome Movie!! May 12, 2006 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I'm 18 and I love this movie every time I watch it. Yes, the plot as well as the script are extremely corny and cheesy and the actress who plays the princess loks old enough to be in her thirties, but it is an entertaining movie nonetheless. It portrays a nice adventure for anyone wishing to get away from the troubles of life for a while and return later. It's a great modern Aladdin story as was said in another review and I recommend it to anyone, espcially in my generation.
The Kid is Back and Amazon Has Him! March 22, 2006 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
You could say this is the Citizen Kane of camel air biscuit movies. Beautifully photographed by Wally Pfister (BATMAN BEGINS) in the same locations where Star Wars and Raiders of the Lost Ark were filmed, this lighthearted sequel to A KID IN KING ARTHUR'S COURT, should not be missed. Please buy many copies often. The writer has 5 kids and needs the residuals.
Classic (predictable) and GREAT for Small Boys! June 2, 2005 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
(from a 6 year old's perspective:)Bad Guys in Black - Good guys in White....cool special effects & a princess to fall in love with...."The kid" is totally the hero of the flick, and my 6 year old son and friend were completely enthralled....soooo much is targeted toward girls (princess bride/bratz/powder puff girls/kim possible, etc) that it is NICE to find Traditional Hero Movies that my son can dig his teeth into.....inspired by this one, we bought the "arthur's court", and am guessing it will be even better....am sorry this was the end of the series...Bottom Line: 6-8 year old boys will LOVE this movie...
as enjoyable as a toothache April 3, 2005 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
This sequel to the disney movie "Kid in King Arthur's Castle" is as pointless a sequel as Son of the mask. This is really a disney ripoff. The lamp looks the same as Disney's aladdin. The part that gets me confused. If the lamp vanished like 80,000 years ago. How would it end up in a pizza place. Don't waste your money on this stupid movie.
