Product Description
When you loved the one who was killing you, it left you no options. How could you run, how could you fight, when doing so would hurt that beloved one? If your life was all you had to give, how could you not give it? If it was someone you truly loved?

To be irrevocably in love with a vampire is both fantasy and nightmare woven into a dangerously heightened reality for Bella Swan. Pulled in one direction by her intense passion for Edward Cullen, and in another by her profound connection to werewolf Jacob Black, a tumultuous year of temptation, loss, and strife have led her to the ultimate turning point. Her imminent choice to either join the dark but seductive world of immortals or to pursue a fully human life has become the thread from which the fates of two tribes hangs.

Now that Bella has made her decision, a startling chain of unprecedented events is about to unfold with potentially devastating, and unfathomable, consequences. Just when the frayed strands of Bella's life-first discovered in Twilight, then scattered and torn in New Moon and Eclipse-seem ready to heal and knit together, could they be destroyed... forever?

The astonishing, breathlessly anticipated conclusion to the Twilight Saga, Breaking Dawn illuminates the secrets and mysteries of this spellbinding romantic epic that has entranced millions.

4 out of 5 stars A Fair Review   August 28, 2008

I really enjoyed the first three books and was kind of upset when I started reading reviews for Breaking Dawn before I got a chance to read it. I think that the series ended pretty well, and I am going to point out things I enjoyed about the book and the things I was not so fond of:

Note: there are some spoilers ahead.

1) I really did not like the fact that a portion of the book was written from Jacob's perspective. I have never been a big Jacob fan at all because he just seems like a young punk to me, but I am curious as to why Stephenie didn't write that section of the book from Edward's perspective. I am way more interested in seeing what he was thinking about the pregnancy and whatnot.

2) I read a few reviews were people were absolutely slamming Bella because she was so happy about being pregnant and her perspective changed so drastically so quickly and how unrealistic it is. Well, when I found out that my husband and I were pregnant with our first child, and it was a complete surprise, I pretty much went from shock and awe to "wow, I am going to be a mommy!" so I don't see what the big fuss is about her reaction.

3) There were also a lot of reviews out there that didn't understand why Bella called Rosalie when she realized she was pregnant. It's simple: she KNEW that Rosalie would defend her and the unborn baby to the end if need be because Rosalie could relate to her in that moment. It wasn't that Bella was being mean or insensitive, she called the one person who would help her regardless of what Edward or Carlisle wanted because that was all Rosalie wanted for her human life.

4) I liked the character of the baby. A lot. She is quite entertaining and unnerving to read about!

5) People were also saying things about how the baby's name didn't make sense: without ruining it for those who haven't read the book, the baby's first name is a combination of Bella's mom's name and Esme's name, and her middle name is a combination of Carlisle and Becca's dad's name. It makes sense to me; she was including the parents in it.

6) Bella seemed to grow as a character when she became pregnant and a vampire. It was entertaining to read about how her views changed with both things, and I really liked how it ended.

All in all, it was worth 4 stars and I would recommend it.

2 out of 5 stars Too bad...   August 28, 2008

In an effort not to be harsh - because somehow I fell into this series and consider it one of my more embarrassing, but definitely admitted, guilty pleasures (I've always had a thing for vampires... especially sexy ones) - I'm going to attempt to be fair.

I read Twilight last May and really enjoyed it. I felt there was definite magic in the way SM created her fantasy vampire universe (in the rainiest place in the US - brilliant!) and the relationship between Edward and Bella, and although I found the writing a bit weak and a lot gushy, I found the characters and the story strong enough to pull me in. New Moon was good - not as magical as Twilight, the absence of Edward and the Cullens noticeable for me as they were a big draw to the series, but still rather strong. The werewolves were a nice addition. So, now I was sucked in and anxiously awaiting Eclipse. More magic missing... and feeling very forced. To me, Eclipse read like a filler novel.

So now Breaking Dawn has finally come out (and yes, I've been waiting just as anxiously as everyone else to see how the saga will end) and I must admit disappointment. All the magic's gone. Edward - like more of a background character through most of the book - suddenly seemed like a middle aged man rather than the forever 17-year old vampire - older and wiser, but still youthful and strong - we met in Twilight. And Bella? Well, I think it was a mistake to make her a vampire so early on... she became boring! I didn't care as much about her when she was so different.

In terms of plot... most of the big moments were seen coming a mile away. The pregnancy, the imprinting... I didn't have an issues with the sex and marriage thing, although I did find the amount of sex in the book surprising considering SM's target audience. I didn't think making her legal and married was enough to justify it all. Not a good message, but I'm really not all that concerned with it. I read much worse as a teenager and if young girls are making their decisions about sex and marriage based on this book, then we have bigger issues to deal with.

The biggest issue I had was simply that a character centered story was thrown to the wind for a plot heavy story that didn't pull me in. I mean, did we really need to spend 7 pages on the J. Jenks thing (seriously - is there an editor involved here)? And why all the build up for the Volturi for a whole lotta nothing? By the time the Volturi arrived, Breaking Dawn was reading like a much less dynamic version of X-men rather than a story from the same universe as Twilight.

And yet, can we fault an author for writing the story she wanted to tell? I don't think so. Perhaps better decisions could have been made - I personally think that BD would have read better if it had come after Twilight and much of NM and Eclipse had been condensed...but, that's me. I'm not really a Jacob fan so that tug-o-war for Bella's affections wouldn't have been all that lost on me. A few chapters would have been fine.

I did think it was cool that Edward could finally hear what Bella was thinking at the end.... But, it was bittersweet because they didn't feel like the same characters from Twilight... especially Edward. A story is a story though... and I guess this was the story.

If you've come this far and read T, NM & E - you will want to finish the saga... disappointments and all. As my sister put it: "the cop outs just kept coming!"

1 out of 5 stars Breaking Dawn....not all that great   August 28, 2008

To be honest this was not my favorite book in the series. I thought that the hype preceeding its release was absolutely ridiculous after I finished reading it. And the hassle with amazon did not help.

5 out of 5 stars It's fictional, it's Stephenie's world and we're lucky to be in it   August 28, 2008

I'll admit, after my first read I liked the book but had quite a few questions. After my second read, 95% of my questions were answered and I LOVED the book. It was the perfect wrap up. This is Stephenie's world and I'm so glad I got into it.
