I got this as a gift for my four year old nephew. He absolutely loves it. He has a one year old brother so I thought this would be less harmful than those foam balls, and it is. The dog loves it, the kids love it, and the adults had even more fun than the kids. Great toy! Very durable! Worth every penny.

 Effective... when it's not jammed January 1, 2009
My nephews had fun with these over the holidays, but struggled with constant jamming, which required thoroughly cleaning the now-sticky muzzle of squished marshmallow "guts". They also didn't always fire on the first (or 2nd) attempt, and required additional pumps. Otherwise, they fired the puffy slugs pretty much as advertised.

I bought four of these for my 4 grown kids as a gag Christmas gift. It turned out to be the favorite gift of the whole day. The pellets shoot fine as do the mini-marshmallows. It does take a little skill to shoot, maybe that was the other reviewer's problem.
 Garbage - don't waste your money December 26, 2008
bought this same gun at bed, bath, beyond. worked for about 15 minutes, when i was using the foam pellets they supplied. does not work well for marshmallows, stale or fresh.
